PARENT GROUP MEETING MINUTES
Feb 16, 2011
Participants:

Publicity:
The A-frames have arrived and are being placed out to promote advertising of Parent Group, school and parish events. Each side of the frames will display different events. Discussion included the idea of attaching balloons to the signs to promote visibility.
Enrichment Programs:
Magician Dave Anderson – rescheduled for Weds March 23rd
9:15 Pre-K - 3rd
10:15 4th – 6th
Police Bike and Helmet Safety – Thurs April 14th
Program presented by Nashua Police Department for all grades
Wingmasters – Tues May 31st
Grades 4 – 6 will participate
Michelle’s Menangerie – Tues June 7th
Grades Pre-K – 3rd
The parent group funds assisted the 6th grade to attend the Boston Symphony and the 4th grade to participate in snow shoeing at Beaver Brook.
The PBS night will be planned for September as the snow storms changed the February plans.
Fundraisers:
Restaurant Nights:
These events are eat in or take out and help support our enrichment programs. We try to plan one event per month. If you have suggestions, please pass them along to Scott Soucy. Next year the organization of the restaurant nights will be separated from the general fundraising coordinator. These events have become very successful and the planning takes time.
Jeannotte’s – has offered to host monthly. March 16th is the next Sub night.
Look for posters and flyers in the Wed’s news.
India Palace – scheduled for April 14th from 5 – 8pm
The owners have offered to host this event at cost. There will be a special area for the St. Chris families and supporters. The service will be a buffet with various dishes so that all my experience a variety of Indian cooking. The restaurant staff will be available to answer questions and share their delicious foods.
Giorgios – scheduled for May 5th;
Either Milford or Merrimack locations are participating
Villa Banca – planning for Wed June 8th
Ongoing: DW Pizza in Merrimack (located near the YMCA) – 10% of the bill will be donated to St. Chris whenever someone mentions St. Christopher School. They will donate on a monthly basis.
Spaghetti Supper – Weds March 23rd
The parent group provides a lottery ticket raffle basket. Scott and Sharon Soucy are coordinating the coverage for selling the tickets. First seating is 5:30, second 7:00. If you are able to assist please contact them.
Auction April 2nd – Lottery Basket
The parent group donates a lottery basket for raffling at the annual auction. If you are able to assist with selling tickets at the event please contact Kathy Moraros.
Van Otis Chocolate Fundraiser is being planned. Jeni is coordinating. A 40% donation will be given by the company. The sale will have an Easter theme. Delivery date of Thursday April 13th is planned.
Book Sale – Thur May 12th and Fri May 13 (and slightly used uniforms)
Carolyn Ogden is coordinating. Boxes will be placed in each classroom for collecting books. Books will be 50 cents.
Volunteers are needed: setup on Thur at 2-3pm to organize the books and uniforms
3 - 5pm the event will be open for students and parents to shop
Fri sale is 8:30am - 2pm. Break down will be conducted after 2pm
If you have suggestions for where the extra books can be donated, please contact Carolyn or Marta.
Teacher Appreciation:
Before/After School – thanks to all that have assisted. The teachers are very appreciative.
Valentine’s Day Surprise – again thanks to all that helped pull together a special day for the teachers. Thank you notes from the staff and teachers were shared at the meeting.
St. Patrick’s Day Mass and Pre-K / K parents breakfast
Dana and Paula are coordinating this event. Email requests for goodies and supplies are circulating. Please assist with providing an item or your time to help setup, mingle with the parents and cleanup. We hold this event to help answer questions for the new parents and to get to know more St. Chris members. If you are able to assist, please contact Dana. The breakfast is held in the church hall immediately following Mass.
Girl’s Night Out /Super Foods with Liz Barbour – Weds March 30th at 6:30
This is an evening night out with a cooking demonstration, social time and BYOB. RSVP by 18th. Fee is $10.
Financial Report:
Paula Nickerson provided a financial summary. The Parent Group has begun to have a nice balance during our 5th year as a committee. Being able to sponsor enrichment programs, classroom field trips and plan for the next year is a great accomplishment for such a young group. Thanks to all who give support to our sponsored events.

Next event to plan is the end of the year barbeque. Volunteers always needed!
