St. Christopher School

Faith Outreach:

Paula and Donna discussed the programs done by Faith Outreach; Adoptive Religious Program, Community Service and Vocation Day.

 

Vocation Day is May 20^th and this is the 20^th year. The day will start with a 9:15 am mass.  Brunch follows.

 

The visitors will then be in classrooms and the students will rotate from classroom to classroom to visit with each speaker.

 

The afternoon will have crafts or community service.

 

This year they would like to create a tile project that will be displayed in the hallway. Tiles will represent religious symbols and all grades and students will participate. The group is looking for financial assistance from the Parent Group.

 

The original price of the project was $3000.00 but due to some rework and donations, the price will now be $1500.00.

 

Discussion regarding any additional options for funding and whether this project fell into the realm of an enrichment program.

 

Vote was taken and it was agreed that the Parent Group would provide $1000.00.

 

Financial Report:

Paula went over the current budget and projected receipts and expenses. The estimated ending balance will be $3237.40

 

Since the group was established in 2006, the balance has increased each year. Paula is working on a spreadsheet that will show all the money coming and going.

 

Fundraising:

The next restaurant night is Giorgios on May 5^th.

 

Looking for volunteers to take over restaurant nights. Jeni, Kim and Dave volunteered.

Volunteers still needed for book sale. Still need 3:00 to 5:00 on 5/12 and 9:00 to 2:00 on 5/13.

 

Van Otis sale went very well. Jeni will ask about expanding for next year.

 

Flower sale goes in on 4/22.

 

Discussion on whether we want to do both flowers for Mother’s Day and candy for Easter again next year. Jeni will see if Van Otis will see if they also have Mother’s Day candy.

 

Enrichment:

Still have the following programs:

?  Michelle’s Menagerie on 5/31 - This year will be woodland animals and maybe next year will be rainforest animals.  No discount next year due to raising gas prices.

?  Wingmaster’s on 6/7

 

Next year we have:

?  PBS night in October

?  School assembly in September

?  11/8/11 Harriet Tubman

?  Game night

?  Pancake breakfast at Applebee’s.

?  Safety Week

?  Music program- looking for an artist to come in

 

Teacher Appreciation:

May is all set by Paula and Scott. Will be 5/26. Troy will do drinks in afternoon.

 

Teacher luncheon will be Friday 5/20. Paula will send out email to bring in extra’s. She is thinking the theme will be Tropical Spring.

 

Other:

Sonia- Boards are all set.

 

Jeni - Waiting to hear from Sue. Will work on signs for the summer.

 

Healthy St Chris will be Friday May 27^th. Need volunteers, and large vehicles to set up and break down. There will be a luau party for top fundraising class.

 

June 3^rd BBQ - need help setting up and manning tables.  Dave will shadow Kathy on the event. We now have a DJ. Will be doing some cost comparisons on items such as chips and other items.  Need another grill and volunteer for dessert section.
