Home Students Classroom Pages Grade 1 - Mrs. Durant November News

November News

October was an exciting month in 1D.  We finished our R reader and received our "brand new" Level 1 book.  We continued to work on the addition unit in our Math book.  November will see us start to work on the subtraction chapter.  This skill will be a little "trickier".  Parents - continue to work on addition facts at home.  The children are doing nicely on these facts.

We met our new adopted priest - Father Chris.  We look forward to future visits.

First grade enjoyed visiting with our "buddies" and making some October crafts.  With every one healthy, we hope to work on a November craft together.  The Halloween celebration was a huge success.  We enjoyed making a scary bat, eating great food, and scooping up the wonderful treats that were inside our pinata.  I would like to express s special thank you to all who made this celebration so special!!

In November, we will be talking about Colonial life and how the lives of children are so different today.  We will also be discussing Veteran's Day and why it is important to remember it is more than just a day out of school.  On Monday (Nov. 7), The children will be bringing home their "undressed" turkey.  I know that you will have so much fun helping your child disguise their turkey so that he will remain safe and not be eaten.  It's a family project - so have fun with it!  Parent conferences are on November 22nd.  I will be sending home a reminder about your time.  See you then.

Enjoy November and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
