Fabulous February in 1M First Grade!
Catholic Schools Week started on January 30th and continues into February. We began our week by celebrating Mass with our 6E Buddies on January 30th! It was a wonderful experience for the class to read, bring up gifts and usher at church! Our week contiues with free dress Spirit Day, ice cream sundaes at lunch, a storyteller and our favorite Friday event...PAJAMA DAY!!! We will also watch a movie with our buddies on Pajama Day!
We celebrated GroundHog Day by watching a podcast from Punxtawny,Pa. Phil saw his shadow ...six more weeks of winter. We can only hope for a bit of snow so we can make a snow sculpture on the front lawn of the school!
Valentine's Day is this month and we will be decorating a shoebox for mailing our valentines. We will be making a valentine craft on February 10th and having some delicious healthy snacks! On Valentine's Day we will open our shoeboxes and see all the valentines our friends have given us!
This month we wrote a friendly letter to a friend or family member. We brought in a stamped addressed envelope from home and placed our letter in it after we corrected our spelling and decorated our letter. We mailed them from school and will bring in our reply to share with the class when we receive it!
February is a busy, exciting month for us! But we do continue with long vowels in Phonics, Weekly Spelling words, learning place value in Math, reading new stories in our anthology and we will write our first Book Report!
On February 8th we will celebrate our 100th Day of school at St. Christopher! We are all making a creative project with 100 of something. We will invite all the classes to view our projects on the 100th Day of School! While counting up to our 100th day, we learned about odd and even numbers, patterns on the 100 chart, counting up and down, and addition facts...how many days passed plus how many days left equals 100!
February is Fabulous and Fantastic in 1M!
