Home Students Classroom Pages Grade 1 - Mrs. Moore We Made it into November!!!

We Made it into November!!!

St.Christopher first graders are now celebrating the month of November! We have been in school for 45 days! Only 55 until our 100th day celebration!

During October we met with our 6E buddies and made a milk carton haunted house! We celebrated Halloween in school with 2 crafts and snacks with our room moms and other moms! We have completed three short vowels, a,i and o in Phonics. We are beginning our Level 1 anthology! It is very exciting being the first students to ever open this book! We will complete short u and e. In Math we continue to practice addition facts and story problems. We are learning about flips or reciprocal facts such as 2+3=5 and 3+2=5. We will soon start subtraction and learn Families of facts. During this month we will participate in Scholastics Virtual trip to Plymouth. We will watch a live presentation from Plymouth along with students from around the country. We will read letters from Native Americans and pilgrim children leading up to this presentation.

A highlight of first grade is our annual Turkey Project! The children must disguise Mr. Turkey so he is not eaten for Thanksgiving! This is a family fun project and is always one the students in the school look forward to seeing!

Turkey,turkey look at you!

Please be careful what you do.

Thanksgiving Day is very near.

We eat turkey every year!

Go, hide out in the woods!

We'll eat pizza as we should.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our St. Christopher friends, old and new!
