St. Christopher School

This will be a very exciting and fun month.  We will begin a unit on Celebrations of Light.  Our class will “travel” around the world to learn about Diwali, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza.  Each child will be given a passport to allow them to travel to India, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Sweden, Italy and Poland.  We’ll discuss the similarities and differences between the holidays and traditional activities of each celebration. 

Math - We will be learning about pictographs, bar graphs, surveys, range, mode, and median.

Religion-  We will be learning about Advent  a season of waiting and preparing for the birth of Jesus. And Christmas  a season of celebrating God’s Greatest gift, his Son, Jesus.  

Spelling - This month we’ll focus on double consonant sounds at the end of words, and review, vowel, consonant –e patterns, consonant clusters, and words spelled with k or ck.

Phonics - We will identify pictures with initial s, r, l, tw  blends and write the picture name. We will identify final consonant blends , identify and write picture names with final consonant blends.

SECOND GRADE  SPECIAL EVENTS

Christmas Concert –Tuesday,  December 13, at 10am.

Our class Christmas party will be on Monday, December 19.
