Dear Parents:
January ended on an exciting note with our third special treat for completing our compliment chain. We are happy to report that all the stuffed animals that visited our class that day were very well behaved! As a result of their exceptional behavior when we attended the Catholic Schools Week mass this week the students earned five links to start their new chain. This is the most links they have earned at one time! We also had a great visit from Mr. Gene, a.k.a Captain Gene, Miss Nancy’s husband. He shared many beautiful pictures of the wildlife he saw on his trip to Prince Edward Island north of Antarctica.
More excitement will be had in February as we close our Catholic Schools week with a Pajama Day and a movie and popcorn with our buddies! We are also only ten days away from the 100th day of preK! We have been diligently counting our way to the 100th day since the first day of school. The children are even getting very proficient at counting backwards. As of now, barring any snow days, the 100th day of preK is on Valentine’s Day. February 14th will certainly be a busy day in our class! Passing out Valentine’s is a great way for your child to practice writing their name. If you could please NOT have them address the envelopes that would be really helpful and a lot easier for distribution. Thanks for your help with this.
Our themes for this month are H for Hundredths, V for Valentine’s, and X for X-Ray/XOXO. The 100th day of school will give us plenty of opportunity to continue practicing counting by 10’s all the way to 100! Foam heart beads are fun to not only bead with but also to sort and pattern. We will be using Geo-boards to make our numbers from 1 to 10. In Religion, we will learn about Saint Valentine and how to have an attitude like Jesus, helping, sharing, waiting and listening. To help us celebrate National Dental Health Month, Nancy Schalk, a dental hygienist, will be visiting us on Wednesday, February 22nd to show us how to keep our teeth healthy and what foods can harm our teeth.
