November 2011

Dear Parents:

Who would have thought we would end October with a whopper of a snowstorm and four days off from school?  We hope everyone weathered Mother Nature’s surprise just fine.

Thank you for attending our Pre-K Take Your Parent to Lunch last month.  The children were very excited for their “big performance” and to have lunch with their parents.  They did a great job!   We were very proud of them.  During October they also finished their first compliment chain and voted by secret popsicle sticks to have a movie, Toy Story, and popcorn as their treat. They are now half way to completing their second compliment chain; we can’t wait to see what they vote on this time.  Hopefully they have been telling you about all the fun things they are doing in class.  We practiced writing numbers and letters in cornmeal, we had a campout complete with a tent, and used a popcorn kernel table.  A listening center has been established, thank you to the Osborne family for donating some Halloween books and CD’s.  We made masks and then had our 3rd grade buddies help us decorate them.  It was a busy month!

November with be a short month but just as busy.  We will be studying the letters N for Native American and Nickel, T for Turkey and C for Christmas.  We are practicing recognizing and writing numbers 6 and 7.  In religion we will continue to learn about our five senses given to us by God and also reflect on all that we are thankful for.  On Monday, November 21st we will have a Thanksgiving celebration complete with Pilgrims and Native Americans.

Our parent-teacher conferences start the week of the 14th you will be receiving a date and time reminder slip in your child’s folder a week before your scheduled day.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to make a change.

And lastly, we found a navy blue St. Christopher; size XS, gym sweatshirt in class.   According to the children it doesn’t belong to anyone Smile.  We thought a parent might remember missing a sweatshirt from their child’s wardrobe.  Please let us know if it’s your child’s.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
