October Newsletter

Our first month went by so fast!! The children got acquainted, made new friends and got used to the routine.  They are excited to learn, curious and happy to be in school.

The month of October bring us a lot of fun things. Our themes will be: Fire safety, leaves, and pumpkins. Here are some of the highlights of the month:

Language Arts: During October we will be learning the letters D, E, F, G. the kids really enjoy working on their puppets of the letter of the week.

Science: we will be talking about pumpkins, how they grow, parts of the plant.  We will plant   pumpkin seeds and we will watch them grow ! . The children will be learning about different types of leaves, we will be collecting them and classifying.

Math:  we will keep working with the concepts of same and different, sequence, shapes, match patterns. During October we will work on numbers 2,3,4,5 and we will be measuring and weighting pumpkins.

Spanish: I will start introducing the colors, greetings and words related to our themes of the month. The children already greet me in the morning in Spanish!. It is amazing how they pick language at this age!

Social Studies: During September we talked about Johnny Appleseed, we are learning the Pledge of Allegiants. During the month of October we will be talking about Columbus Day, Community Helpers, especially Fireman, Fire Safety and emergency 911.

Children are working hard on learning their tracing and cutting skills. We will continue working and getting better every day!

 

Important dates:

October 4th: Ft. Paul Bouchard, Our Lady of Mercy in Merrimack, has been assigned as our adopted priest.

October 19: early release day. Pre K students will be release at 12:15. There is no afterschool care or lunch.

October 21: Take your parent to lunch day!! Come have lunch at St. Christopher School with your child. The children will perform a couple songs and will join you for lunch.

October 31: Halloween classroom party. We will be sending home more information. Homeroom parents will contact you on how you can help out.

During mid-October we will have a fall scavenger hunt at the playground on Sargent Ave. We will watch the forecast and decide on a non-rainy day. Once we decide we will be asking for two parents to help us .
