Artist of the Month:  Edward Hopper

Born:  1882           Died:  1967

Edward Hopper’s parents encouraged his art.  His favorite media were: watercolors, printing and etching.

Most famous painting:  Nighthawks

Curriculum Standard #2:  Identify and apply elements of visual arts and principles of design.

2.1 Recognize visual elements of color, form, shape, space, line,

value  and texture.

Emotions he depicted:  isolation, melancholy and loneliness.

Projects:  This month we will explore Edward Hopper’s style of watercolor art, we will print with Styrofoam pieces and attempt etching with scratchboard.

Art is a whole brainer.  Art teaches us to see.
