September: Artist is Rembrandt and the Masterpiece of the month is: The Night Watch.
Rembrandt von Rijn was born in the Netherlands in 1606 and died in 1669. His style was Dutch Realism.
He achieved popularity in his paintings of self- portraits and portraits.
Activities will include portrait drawing, self- portraits and magazine match ups.
He loved to look in the mirror and make faces and draw the expressions he made.
Our Visual Arts program will be coordinated with the music program.
He was the greatest master of the Dutch School.
The State Standard is Curriculum Standard #1: Students will learn to apply appropriate media, techniques and processes.
Note: Mrs. Landry will be attending the NHAEA on October 15th at the Manchester Institute of Art. The title of the Conference is: ART IS A WHOLE BRAINER!
