Auction FAQ's
I have an item that I would like to donate to the Auction. How do I do that?
First of all, thank you! The success of our Auction is entirely dependent on the generosity of donors such as yourself and our wonderful bidders. To donate an item, please see the "Item Donation Form", located HERE. You can either fill it our online and print it or download the file to complete. fAttach the form to your item and send it in to Marta at school. If your item is something less "tangible", like time at a vacation home or a specialty dinner, simply download the form, complete it, and send it in to Marta. For these kinds of items, any supporting material you can send along is helpful, like brochures, posters, photos, etc. The more we can show about an item, the more successful it will be!
I know a local business who would like to donate. What should I do?
Thanks for making the contact with this business! Much like the personal donations described above, you can download the "Item Donation Form" located HERE and take it to them to complete. Please be sure they give as much information on the form as possible, including the item value. Legally, we can not determine the value of the item -- this must come from the donor! If the business requires additional documentation, like a request letter or our nonprofit IRS tax ID number, please download the "Donation Request Letter" located HERE . Finally, be sure to thank the business for their kind donation (we will also send a letter of thanks) and bring the Donation Form and the item to Marta at the school.
I see that the Auction invitation said that all proceeds go to Financial Aid programs at St. Chris. My family does not receive financial aid. Does this mean that my donation and/or purchase at the Auction will not go to my child's education?
All children benefit from the proceeds of the Auction. The true cost of a St. Christopher K-6 education is $4,725, while our tuition is currently $4,370. Fundraising efforts like the Auction allow the school to provide behind-the-scenes financial aid to ALL families by lowering the tuition cost by $475. Your donation and/or purchase at the Auction helps us to help you!
Does the ticket price of $50 provide any profit to St. Chris?
Unfortunately, putting on an event of this kind is expensive. Much like a wedding, we must pay for the use of the hotel and for the food. The $50 ticket price covers this cost...and guarantees a great meal in a super atmosphere with wonderful friends!
Will I receive any documentation of my donation?
Yes, once the Auction is over, we send thank you's which detail donations/purchases to all those who donated and/or attended the Auction. We are very grateful for everyone's support and want to take every opportunity to thank you!
Do I have to be present to win the vacation raffle?
No, you don't have to be present the evening of the Auction when we draw the winner. However, think how exciting it would be to be in the room when your name is drawn!
How do I RSVP to the Auction?
All current parents, as well as friends of St. Christopher who have attended the Auction previously, will receive an invitation to the Auction approximately six weeks in advance of the event. If you do not receive an invitation, or should lose the one you receive, you can still attend the Auction by contacting Marta Nissen at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We look forward to seeing you there!
Will I receive actual tickets to the Auction?
No. We don't actually send home tickets for the Auction. You just need to show up on Saturday, April 2, ready to have some fun! There will be a check-in table at the event where you will receive your program for the evening, a bidder's paddle, and your free drink ticket.
What form of payments do you take at the Auction?
We take cash, checks and credit cards. Please know that we must pay a 2% to 4% fee on every credit card charge, so credit cards do lower our profit from the evening by 2% to 4%.
What is the dress "code" for the evening?
Well, we are a Catholic school, but that doesn't mean we have a required uniform for the evening! Our goal is for you to relax and enjoy yourself, so wear something you will be comfortable in. This year's theme "Come Together" suggests dress from the late 60's and early 70's, so feel free to have some fun with it!
