Thank you’s – This week’s thank you’s go to two groups of AWESOME students who have been out doing great things in the name of St. Chris this week!
First, we thank all of the students who did the Catholic Schools Week speeches at the local parishes: Ben Danielson, Sara and Haley Schmitt, Evangeline Rockwell, Nicole Orozco, Brenna Hebert, Meghan Eckmann, Matthew Thibault, the Bourn family, and Andi and John MacFarlane. This weekend, Grace Trabucchi will represent us at a Coffee Hour at St. Patrick Parish in Nashua.
The second group of thank you’s go to the students who volunteered this week at the Nashua Soup Kitchen. The response from interested students was amazing and we unfortunately couldn’t take everyone. Looks like we’ll have to schedule a repeat visit! The students who were able to volunteer include: Samantha Crotty, Siri Warren, Ben Warren, Emily Moloney, Madeline Seeley-Hacker, Ella Lowenburg, Julia Koperniak, Grace Trabucchi, Nick Roy, Brittany Hebert and Tucker MacLellan. Thanks, too, to the mom’s who accompanied the students and Ms. Cate for her assistance!
In-House Registrations – Registrations for grades 3-6 for the next school year were due LAST Friday. If you have not returned your registration and your child will be returning next Fall, you must do it immediately to save a seat!
Catholic Schools Week – We’re having a great week so far! Go Huskies! Tomorrow we will have storyteller Mark Binder sharing his Stories for Peace. Mark will also have some of his books and cd’s available for autographing and purchase. See the order form HERE . All parents are welcome to attend the presentation!
Please note – on Friday, Feb. 3, each class will get together with their buddy for a special movie event. Each student will receive popcorn and juice in the afternoon. Therefore, we will NOT be having popcorn for snack that morning. Please either send in a snack or let your child know that he or she will need to pay for something off the snack cart. Thanks!
Speaking of Friday – don’t forget that it’s PJ Day Free Dress for everyone!
Code of Conduct -- Did you know that the Diocese of Manchester has a Code of Conduct? This Code of Conduct, known as Serving Christ, Serving Others, applies to all Church personnel. “Church personnel” not only refers to priests, deacons, and religious men and women, it also includes all those who regularly work or volunteer at diocesan parishes, schools and camps. Some examples are: lectors, ushers, catechists, day care staff and volunteers, Catholic school volunteers, Boy Scout leaders, CYO coaches, youth ministers, members of pastoral and finance councils, choir directors and members, and parish outreach workers. The Serving Christ, Serving Others Code of Conduct is available online at http://www.catholicnh.org/assets/Documents/ChildSafety/Policies/CodePolicy-2011.pdf or, if you would like a printed copy, please contact the office.
Auction Donations – Auction Donations are starting to come in and it’s VERY exciting! Just this week, we received:
If you’ve been thinking about making a donation to our Auction or taking out a business or personal sponsorship or ad for the event, now is the time to do it! We will “Come Together” on March 31 for this fun night to support St. Chris and we need your help to make it a success!
Big News -- our fabulous Vacation Raffle is back! This year’s prizes are the best yet….6 days/5 nights in San Francisco or $2,000! How cool is that?! Tomorrow, each oldest and only student will receive a packet of 5 raffle tickets. Each ticket is $10. We will once again be offering class prizes for the highest selling class – details coming soon!
Sponsorships and advertising are new this year – wouldn’t you like to get in on the “ground floor”? Check out the details HERE! Our first family sponsors of the event are the Casey family….we are so grateful! Here’s a message they included with their paperwork:
Our family is proud to sponsor the St. Chris auction this year – it’s a fun event and it benefits each and every family in our school community. Wouldn’t it be great, in this first year of the auction’s sponsorship program, if we could celebrate 10 family sponsors! What a powerful message to the businesses in our community we are approaching for support. We encourage every family to consider joining us in our support of this terrific night and our kids! The Casey Family (Paul, Tricia, Jack and Scarlett)
Healthy Reminder – The cold and flu season is definitely here! Please, please, please…if your child is sick, please keep him or her at home for the day! Children who run a fever or are vomiting the night before school should NOT attend school the next day, even if they are feeling “better.” They need to be fever or nausea free for 24 hours to be sure that they aren’t sharing their germs with their classmates! Thank you for your cooperation – together, we can keep everyone healthy!
YEARBOOK NEWS -- St. Chris yearbooks are intended for students in ALL grades, so they can fondly remember their school days. Many families order a yearbook for their student(s) each year. As they progress through the grades, it is always great fun to look back on previous years. Don't forget to review the yearbook packet. You should have received forms to order a yearbook, to write a personal message to your student and to sponsor your student's class page and/or advertise your business in the yearbook. You can also find yearbook order form HERE. The Personal Messages order form can be found HERE and the Sponsorship Form can be found HERE . If you are curious about previous yearbooks, take a look at them on display in the lobby. The due date for all orders is February 10th. Send your forms in to the office, marked “yearbook”. Thank you!
CYO Basketball – It’s tournament time! Our 5th/ 6th grade Mites basketball teams are entered in the CYO tournament this weekend! First up is the boys team, who face St. Anthony’s on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM at Nashua Catholic. The girls will take on St. Catherine’s on Friday evening at 7:00 PM at Nashua Catholic. Fans are encouraged to come out and support our teams! Go Huskies!
Scout Sunday -- St. Christopher Parish will be celebrating Scout Sunday at the 10am Mass on Feb. 5th. All families are invited to attend and scouts/leaders are encouraged to wear their uniforms. We are seeking Catholic scouts to participate in the Mass (as greeters, readers, gift bearers, etc.). If your son would like to participate, please contact Lorrice at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please join us! Cub scouts and boy scouts from all packs/troops (and all parishes) are welcome to attend.
Help Needed – As we noted last week, we are having a great recruitment season for potential new families for St. Chris in the Fall, which is a very good thing! One of the ways that we love to welcome new families who are interested in St. Chris is by giving them a special tour of the school by a current parent, either as part of an Open House or as a one-on-one private tour. This gives the current parent the chance to share why they love St. Chris and allows the potential parent to ask questions. Currently, we have a lovely group of Tour Guides…but they could use some help to handle all of our inquiries! Therefore, we are looking for people who would like to become Tour Guides and help grow the St. Chris family! The commitment is approximately 1 hour per tour and approximately 10 minutes following the tour to write a quick thank you note. Some flexibility in scheduling is appreciated, as we schedule tours based on the potential parents’ schedule. Training will be provided, as will the chance to shadow a current Tour Guide. Interested? Please send Marta a quick email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ! Thanks!
Popcorn Coordinator – More help needed! Our dedicated Popcorn Coordinators for the past umpteen years, Stephen and Christine Danielson, will be “retiring” at the end of this year. We thank them profusely for their service over the years – popcorn is a wonderful tradition here at St. Chris! We are looking for someone to take the program over for the Fall – the Danielson’s have graciously offered their guidance and expertise to help the transition to a new leader. If you are interested, please let Marta know at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thanks!
Jeannotte’s Sub Orders – Don’t forget that the Jeannotte’s Sub orders are due on Friday, Feb. 10. Sub night will be Wednesday, Feb. 15. Click HERE for the order form.
President’s Day/Valentine’s Lunch -- As you may have noticed when you ordered February’s Hot Lunch, there is no lunch being offered on Presidents Day, February 20. This is because the Hot Lunch schedule had to be created before the final decision was made regarding holding school that day. Sooooo, we will not be serving Hot Lunch on Feb. 20. However, that doesn’t mean lunch won’t be extra special that day! We have decided to renew an old traditional at St. Chris….the “secret” Valentine’s Lunch!
Each family is asked to make an extra special Valentine’s Lunch for their children on Feb. 20 – think hearts and pink and red! Try cutting your child’s sandwich or cheese slices into a heart shape….or sending in strawberry (red!) jello…or including a small candy like Hershey’s kisses or red & white M&M’s…or packaging the whole thing in a Valentine’s themed bag! Most importantly, we ask that you include a special note or Valentine’s card to your child in the bag expressing your pride and love!
Ski Club –The Ski Club will now extend to Feb. 17 to accommodate the rescheduling of last week’s cancellation. All transportation, lessons and equipment rental will extend to the 17th, too!
Please remember that dismissal for Ski Club is not until 2:45 PM. If you have any changes to your child’s plans to ride the bus, please email Paula Nickerson at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If your child is not at school, we will assume that your child is not skiing. If your child is at school, but is not skiing, please email Kerrie Dahl at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 10:00 AM on Friday. If we hear from you by 10:00, we will not run your child’s ticket and they can use it another time. Thanks!
Danelly’s Super Bowl Sunday – One of our favorite local restaurants has asked us to let you know about their Super Bowl Special! All 30” Jumbo Subs are just $13.99 +tax! For fastest service, please call ahead at 882-6820!
Educational Outfitters Scholarship Opportunity – Our uniform supplier, Educational Outfitters, is pleased to announce their annual Scholarship Contest is underway. This contest is open to all students at St. Chris! The winners receive scholarships which are paid directly to St. Chris to defray tuition fees for the 2012/2013 School Year. This scholarship is not for graduating seniors or others not planning on being enrolled in the school next year. This is a very competitive scholarship and the winning entries must be very high quality and very professional as well as timely in order to be considered meritorious. Submissions are DUE to the Educational Outfitters store in Nashua postmarked no later than April 15th in order to be considered. No exceptions.
Hot Lunch Reminder – Orders for March’s hot lunch is now OPEN and will close on the 15th of the month. Please be sure to order your child’s lunch during this time. Due to constraints with the online system and agreements with our vendors, we can not accept orders past Feb. 15! Thanks for your help with this!
