November News

Dear Parents and Friends of St. Christopher School,

I want to begin by thanking you for your continued support of St. Christopher School and for your encouraging words during my eighth year as principal. This school has a welcoming nature that most people don’t understand and I see that caring side expressed among our students, parents and staff members. It’s one of the many reasons that I am happy to lead St. Christopher School to a new level of excellence. I want our parents to know that our staff members are working very hard to carry out the mission and vision for our school and that this has me convinced that St. Christopher School’s future will continue to be bright.

November is upon us already, where have the days gone?  It will soon be time to “fall back” and the ritual of the clocks heralding the coming of winter begins. I love November because it is the beginning of one of the most wonderful seasons as we begin the new liturgical calendar. The season of Advent is just around the corner, and I look forward to this time of preparation and thanksgiving for all God has given to my family and the wonderful blessings I receive each day as I work with the children, parents, and the wonderful staff of St. Christopher School. As we enter this season, I hope all of our families will take some time together to celebrate in thanksgiving for all that God has given you.

The annual Calendar Raffle fundraiser was a big success.  This success was truly because of your generosity. This was the first of our three fundraisers for this year and we couldn’t have been happier with the results!  Over $22,000 was collected!  Crazy Mrs. Clarke Day was a big success!!!  It was “panda”monium!

Early Release Day – The St. Christopher School teaching staff continued their professional development track by attending a workshop put on by Jack Agati. It was a wonderful afternoon and we learned a lot about communication and working with students and their families.   It was a great afternoon!

Faith Outreach held its Twenty-eighth Annual Vocation Day on Tuesday, October 23rd.  Befittingly, the day began with Fr. David Harris saying Mass, concelebrated by Fr. Matthew Mason, Fr. Von DeRosia, Fr. Thien Nguyen, Fr. Richard Kelley, Deacon Bill Lavallee and Deacon John Castelot.  It was big success!  The children sang their hearts out and it brought a tear to my eye. We received so many compliments from our honored guests as to how reverent our children were and how their singing was so wonderful and uplifting!  I’d like to thank our music teacher, Emily Skelly, for bringing that enthusiasm to our Mass.  I am so proud of each and every one of our students.  Throughout the day, students attended sessions at which guest speakers; both lay and professed, shared their faith journey and responded to students’ questions.  After lunch and recess, students created cards for our troops. You could feel God’s presence in every room! The grand finale was a Q&A with Fr. David. The students had some great questions and Fr. David enjoyed his time with them.  God’s presence was everywhere!  Mirroring the outstanding efforts of parent volunteers, and speakers, the students committed themselves fully to this faith-filled day; once again proving that example is the best teacher!  My deepest gratitude is extended to all parent volunteers, speakers, and staff.  For their vision and dedication, the Faith Outreach Committee is to be commended for providing our students with such an inspiring program.

The Cross Country season has come to a close.  Every runner on the team gave it their all and I am very proud of them!  Thank you to everyone who came to cheer them on!  A big thank you to Stacey Marino and PJ Levesque for coaching this team and to all the volunteers for their time and efforts with the runners!! It was a fabulous season! Please check out our trophies in the lobby from the PMA Invitational.  Both our boy’s and girl’s teams came in 2nd place!!!!   Way to go!!!

I am pleased to recognize the following students who led the school community in Morning Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance this month:  Gabby Martin, Grace Laliberte, and Mary Pappas.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful November!!

Love and Prayers,     Cindy Clarke
