NEW! Day of Giving Reminder - It’s not too late to participate in this year’s Day of Giving to support the Saint Christopher Academy Teacher Fund! The 24-hour Day of Giving ends TODAY at noon! The Teacher Fund is a permanent endowment dedicated to providing long-term equitable pay and benefits for our faculty. BONUS! All those who donate this morning are entered into a raffle for a $25 Whole Foods gift card!

 

Kindergarten Aide – With the departure of Mrs. Foran, we are looking for a longterm substitute to assist in the KA classroom. This position would be during school hours until the end of the current school year. Please contact Mrs. Clarke at [email protected] if you are interested!

 

NEW! Important Attendance Reminder - All parents MUST notify the attendance email at the appropriate campus if their student will be out of school for the day for ANY reason. Please send a notification email prior to the start of school whenever possible. Our office personnel must track all student attendance…if they do not hear directly from you via email, they will call you to check on your student.  While you may choose to also inform your child’s teacher, you MUST send an email to attendance. Lower campus parents should email [email protected]. Upper campus parents should email [email protected]. Thank you!

Catholic Schools Week/Saint Chris Spirit! This week is Catholic Schools Week/Saint Chris Spirit Week! We have a full week of activities planned, including a number of fun themes and activities! Click HERE for the packet with this week’s schedule!

 

NEW! Upper Campus change in schedule - Due to the 2 hour delay on Monday, Bishop Guertin has postponed its Catholic Schools Week mass to Thursday, February 1st. All upper campus students will be attending that mass and should be wearing the regular Mass uniform. Upper campus students will have their Mismatch Day (see Catholic Schools Week schedule for description) on Monday, February 5.

 

NEW! Corpus Christi Food Pantry - Also, don’t forget our CSW Corpus Christi Food Pantry Drive ends on Friday at 9:00 AM on both campuses! The shelves are bare at the Food Pantry and they are counting on our donations to help feed the less fortunate of Nashua. All non-perishable items are welcome, but the pantry is in special need of:

Cooking oil (42 oz or smaller)

NEW! Upper Campus Snowflake Dance - Due to a conflict with Ski Club, the upper campus Snowflake Dance has been postponed to Friday March 8. Tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria closer to the event. 

Dress for the event is “semi-formal”: 

 

Girls:  Dress, skirt and blouse, dress pants and top, or full jumpsuit (no strapless dresses or tops.) may be worn.  If the straps on the dress or top are less than 2 inches wide, please wear a sweater or shrug over it. Skirts and dresses should be no more than 3 inches above the kneecap and should not be tight-fitting. Shoes or sandals must be worn.  No flip flops.

Boys:  Dress shirt, tie, and dress pants.  No jeans. Clean, casual or dress shoes are allowed. No flip flops or sandals. 

 

New Family Enrollment - Tours and applications for students interested in joining our school community for next year have increased over the past few weeks as many parents respond to changes in local schools. If you know of any family who is interested in Saint Chris, please encourage them to contact Lorrice Bedard at [email protected] for a tour or to apply as soon as possible! Applications are considered on a first come, first served basis and open spots in several grades are limited. Thank you!

 

NEW! CYO Basketball News - Calling all Saint Chris basketball fans! The 5th/6th grade boys CYO teams are scheduled to play each other and they need to hear the ROAR of the crowd! 5:00 PM tip off at the upper campus gym TOMORROW, Thursday, February 1st. All students who attend the game receive a FREE DRESS PASS! Go Wildcats!

 

NEW! Q3 Progress Reports - Progress Reports for all grades will be emailed on Friday, February 9.

 

NEW! Saint Chris’s Kitchen –  Saint Chris's Kitchen will be making Candlemas themed treats next Monday, February 5th from 3:00 - 4:45 PM in the upper campus kitchen. Cost is $5 for supplies. See attached flyer below and Miss Thompson for a permission slip.

Yearbook Ordering – Parents were sent an email from O’Connor Studios about ordering the Saint Christopher Academy 2023-2024 yearbook!  Please take the time to open the email, read the information, and place your order...the ordering window closes at midnight on February 23!  Don't forget, in addition to the yearbook itself, families in all grades may purchase a Personal Message and/or a Family Sponsorship!  8th grade families only may also purchase a 1/4 page graduate ad.  For more information, please see the Yearbook Ordering email HERE that was sent to parents. Faithful Fridays - Upper campus students and their parents are invited to join Ms. Thompson and Mrs. Lester for prayer and adoration in the chapel every Friday from 7:00 - 7:30 AM.  Donuts and fellowship follow each week! 

 

UC Supplies Needed - The upper campus is in desperate need of tissues and paper towels! Next time you are at the grocery store, consider picking up one of those important items and send them in to Mrs. Coker! Thank you!

NEW!  Auction Committee Meeting - Our next Auction Committee meeting will be Wednesday, February 7th at 7:00 PM at the upper campus. It’s not too late to get involved in planning the Auction….all are welcome!

 

After Care on February 9th - Due to a wedding in the church, After Care on Friday, February 9th will take place in the 1st/2nd grade wing of the school rather than in the church hall. Parents should pick up their child from After Care by ringing the doorbell at the far left end of the school (along Brookline St.). This is the same door that was used earlier in the year for Extended Care when the church was under construction.

 

NEXT WEEK! NO SCHOOL Day - Next Wednesday, February 7th, will be our next no school day. Teachers will be participating in professional development. Note: Our 5th grade students will be participating in our annual Step-Up Day at the upper campus from 9:00 to 11:30 AM. Parents of 5th grade students will receive more information about Step-Up Day this week.

 

THIS WEEK! Step-Up Day Registration - Parents of 5th grade students are reminded to RSVP for the 5th grade Step-Up Day on February 7th by completing the SignUp Genius HERE. Please RSVP by THIS Friday, February 2, 2024 so that the upper campus staff can prepare appropriately.

 

NEW! Valentines Day Free Dress - Life is sweet when you have a Free Dress Day! Students and staff are invited to dress in Red, Pink, or White on Tuesday, February 13 for Valentine’s Day! (February 14 is Ash Wednesday, so we are celebrating Valentines a day early!) Students are reminded to follow all free dress code guidelines. 

 

STEM Day Speakers - Are you in a STEM field? Would you like to share your love of or experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math? We have begun planning for this year’s STEM Day, to be held on May 16. We are looking for speakers to present to students about their interest and/or careers in any STEM-related field, whether as a professional or hobbyist. Presentations will be approximately 20-30 minutes in length. If you are interested in speaking, please email Carol Fiore at [email protected].

 

NEW! Financial Aid Applications - If your family is interested in  Saint Chris financial aid for the 2024-2025 school year, all applications are due by Thursday, February 22. You can apply through your Family Portal. Click on Financial  in the lefthand column, then Apply for Grant and Aid in the pop-up window.

Upcoming School Masses - All parents are invited to attend our weekly school masses! Parents must enter through the front door of each campus facility, sign in, and receive a nametag to attend. All masses are at 9:45 AM on both campuses unless otherwise noted. The schedule for the next month is:

This month celebrates the achievements of African Americans and their important role in US history. Boy Scouts Summer

 

Graveyard Tour - Saint Christopher Academy is partnering with the Nashua Historical Society! “Voices from the past: The Final Tour” is looking for participants to guide visitors from gravesite to gravesite as actors portray notable Nashua citizens from days gone by in their annual graveyard tour from 2-4pm on May 4th. Join Mrs. Fessenden and Mrs. Bouchard in the fun! Participation involves a bit of costuming, a bit of talking, and gets you access to one of the most interesting historical sites in Nashua! We are also looking for student artwork for the t-shirts representing this event! Click HERE for T-shirt details.
