We were so excited to hold the official ribbon cutting and blessing ceremony for our new 2,000 square foot Fine Arts Center on September 10!. Located in a renovated convent, the Center houses a large art classroom, an equally large music room, two handicapped accessible bathrooms, interactive whiteboards, and extra storage. Those gathered for the ceremony included St. Christopher Parish pastor Rev. David Harris, Superintendent of Catholic Schools David Thibault, and many members of the parish and school communities.
During the ceremony, principal Cynthia Clarke thanked the many people who participated in the Fine Arts Center project. “We were blessed to have a large number of wonderful donors support our efforts financially, as well as many vendors and local businesses who supplied services and products at either a greatly reduced cost or for free. In addition, members of our staff and families gave readily of their time and talents to help with the renovation. It truly was a team effort.”
Special recognition was given to lead donors Brendan and Dana Keegan and their family during the ceremony. The Center’s art room will be named the Barbara A. Keegan Art Room in appreciation of their donation. “Barbara Keegan was an art teacher for many years at St. Christopher School and passed away in 2016,” said Clarke. “We are so pleased to be able to remember Barbara in this fitting way.”
In addition, Clarke made the surprise announcement that the music room would be named the Corriveau Family Music Room. Kevin Corriveau, a parent at St. Christopher School, and his company Condo Capitol Projects & Maintenance LLC served as general contractors for the project. “We are honored to name the Corriveau Family Music Room in recognition of the tremendous time, talent, and donations made by Kevin Corriveau and his family to this project. Through his craftsmanship and hard work, we truly have an amazing facility for the benefit of our students and parishioners.”
Prior to the actual ribbon cutting, the building and all those who will use it were blessed by Rev. David Harris. “We are most grateful to God to be able to have such a special space that will serve our community for many years to come,” said Fr. Harris. “I look forward to seeing the creative nature of our students nurtured in this wonderful building.”
The Fine Arts Center will further enhance the school’s robust student programming in art, music, and drama. Students currently can choose to participate in two bands, two fiddle squads, chorus, drama club, drama stage crew, and 3D design club. In the Fine Arts Center, new classrooms will be used for many of these activities, as well as art and music instruction, community art and music classes, parish and school meetings, and more.
